today was a good day. i slept in really late, got up, had some coffee, got dressed and then headed to the World’s Fair Park for the Get Outdoors Festival. the festival itself was ok. nothing really spectacular. after visiting all the booths, i wandered around the world’s fair park and even ventured to the observation deck of the sunsphere. i had never been up there before and it was so cool. you could see for miles - all of downtown knoxville and the smoky mountains off in the distance. it was absolutely gorgeous! afterward, i went to mast general store (one of my favorite stores ever) and then to market square & krutch park to waste some time before heading back to park for a concert. before leaving market square, i stopped in at tomato head and got my favorite pizza (sundried tomato and pesto) to take back to the park. back at the world’s fair park, i enjoyed listening to some good quality rock & roll courtesy of a local band called The Dirty Guv’nahs. you should check them out…they’re awesome…and so much fun to dance to (even though i didn’t do any of that today). best of all, the concert was free…but it only lasted about 45 minutes. however, i did finally buy their cd so the concert continues in my car.
knoxville is a great city, full of opportunities…most of which, i have not yet discovered. i need to stray away from my usual paths and explore knoxville more often…with my camera, of course.
