today has been a pretty good day so far. i’ve worked a lot this week so i was able to flex off today. i slept in, then got up and laid around the house for a while. i turned my phone off so as not to be bothered by certain people. i did a bit of cleaning around my apartment and then watched Martian Child while doing some laundry. on a side note, Martian Child is a great movie that everyone should see, especially anyone in social work. after the movie ended, i decided to lace up my new shoes and go for a walk at a nearby greenway. it was nice outside, kinda cloudy and cool, but not too cool. there was not much traffic on the greenway but just enough so that one didn’t feel uncomfortable. just as i was approaching my car to do some stretches and then head home, i stepped in something mushy. when my other foot stepped on solid ground, it clicked. i just stepped in dog crap…in my brand new shoes. nice! i spent the next 10 minutes or so dragging my shoe in the grass and using a stick to scrape some of the crap out of the grooves, which, by the way, were plentiful. i decided to just take my shoes off and continue this cleaning when i got home. once home, i dug out the rubber gloves, clorox wipes, and even toothpicks. yes, i had to use a toothpick to clean out the grooves b/c some were tiny. by the time i finished cleaning up my shoe, it was 5:00, signaling the official beginning of my weekend. i turned my pager off and my cellphone on and all is well once again.
